Booking History
Using the History Page in Splice Exports
The History Page in Splice Exports provides a complete, time-stamped record of every update received for a booking. It gives your team transparency, accountability, and documentation — especially valuable when resolving disputes or validating changes with ocean carriers, terminals, or internal stakeholders.
Structure of the History Page
The page is organized into three primary sections:
1. Left Column – Data Fields
This section lists all tracked data elements for the booking, including:
- ERD, cutoffs, vessel and voyage information
- Port and terminal data
- Estimated and actual container movements
- Equipment and container-level events
See the Knowledge Center article on data fields for a full listing.
2. Right Column – Change Log
Every update Splice receives is shown here in reverse chronological order, with the most recent change at the top. This column shows:
- When a change occurred
- What changed
- Who or what source made the change
Each entry includes a letter or logo identifying the source (e.g., carrier, terminal, automation, or manual upload). If a document was included with the update (such as a booking confirmation or terminal screenshot), a document icon will appear next to the bullet point. Click it to view the attached file.
At the top of this column is the Generate Report button, which creates a PDF of the entire history.
Generate Report
Use the Generate Report button to download a summary of all changes made to the booking. This report is especially useful for:
- Sharing with third parties who are not on the portal
- Supporting billing or demurrage disputes
- Keeping an internal record of shipment changes
Color and Outline Indicators
Splice uses colored boxes and visual borders to help you interpret changes easily.
| Visual Indicator | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Green Box | New information received for the first time |
| Grey Box | Previously known information confirmed again in a new update |
| Black Outline | Indicates the current, most relevant value for that field |
For example, if the Port ERD changes from July 10 to July 12, the new date (July 12) will appear in green with a black outline. The prior value (July 10) will appear in grey, showing it is no longer the active value.
What’s Tracked and How
Splice tracks each data element by:
- What the data is (e.g., cutoff, vessel, terminal)
- When it changed (timestamp)
- The source of the change (carrier, terminal system, uploaded document, or user)
This provides a full audit trail for each booking, helping you manage timelines, respond to changes, and defend against fees or errors.
Why It Matters
The History Page gives your team:
- A clear view of what changed and when
- Traceability for every piece of booking data
- A tool for validating issues with partners or internal stakeholders
Use it to stay proactive and confident throughout the export process.
